Untuk menyembunyikan ikon partisi atau volume drive yang muncul di desktop ubuntu, dapat diatasi dengan cara :
Tekan Alt+F2 untuk memunculkan dialog Run -> Application. Ketik gconf-editor kemudian klik Run. Di sisi kiri panel, pilih apps -> nautilus -> desktop dan hilangkan tanda centang pada opsi volumes_visible.
Tutup aplikasi gconf-editor dan ikon partisi telah hilang dari desktop
