Seperti diketahui, ada bug pada Gnome Network Manager di Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid). Bug ini menyebabkan setiap kali rebooting IP Address yang telah ditetap akan kembali lagi menjadi DHCP setup. Juga MAC Address menjadi kosong. Kasus ini juga terjadi pada laptop saya yang terinstalasi Ubuntu 8.10. Dari informasi yang kudapat, disarankan untuk menginstalasi Wicd dengan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut :
